Robb-"Where did you get your name from?"
El Prez-"I actually had other names but El Prez is short for El Prezidente(duh!) and I wanted a leader-type of name cause I wanted to lead a movement, not follow it. Plus, when the ladies say "el prez" it just sounds SO right..."
Robb-"Who inspired you to start rapping."
El Prez-"I was inspired by artists like Run-DMC, LL, the Pharcyde, the Liks, Redman, etc...I was a fan of Hip Hop way before I picked up a mic, I just wasnt good at the other elements, lol, but a lot of acts at the time I started spitting were pretty garbage and I thought I could rise above the competition..."
Robb-"How was it like working on your third album?"
El Prez-"It was an amazing experience working on this LP because of the caliber of talent I worked with to give the fans a ride down my streets they hopefully wont forget. From working with U-N-I and seeing them progress to the status they are at now, to working with producers as creative as 3AM(planet asia, Cali Agents, GZA) and THX( Snoop Dogg, Westurn Union, DJ Skee's American Godfather) the studio moments were truly memorable."
Robb-"Hows it like working with U-N-I?"
El Prez-"It Sucked!!! Nah, those are two truly creative cats that grind non-stop and like I said, to see how far they've come in such a short time is a testament to good music reaching good ears. We're def hard at work reppin the city of champions right."
Robb-"What is the story behind the song "One Two"
El Prez-"That's like my "one mic" song rite there. It just comes from always hearing these so called "artists" talking about everything but the music, like rap is a get rich quick scheme or something, while Ill be doing this for free or fee, it dont matter cause I love this shit. So at the end of the day all i need is 2 turntables and a mic to be a star, the glamour and the glitz is just icing on the cake. Plus I'm throwing darts at a couple no-name rappers that keep me on their mind like a new era fitted."
Robb-'I love the track "This Girl I Knew II" what is your favorite track on your album.'
El Prez-"The Girl I Knew is actually my fav song on the album also cause El Prez def loves the Ladies! Plus that loop just reminds you of LA in the summer rolling down La Brea or the Shaw, ya braille me?!? You can feel the breeze when you bang that track. Plus it's all true stories."
Robb-"If you could work with any producer who would it be."
El Prez-"DJ Premier and Rick Rubin."
Robb-"What do you have to say to Kids trying to break it into the music industry."
El Prez-"Grind like you trained at starbucks, and develop a thick skin, and most of all, STOP BITING!! we need to bring that word back, cause biting is a epidemic in rap right now, from the clothes to the flows, its gotta stop!"
Robb-"Will there be a 4th album from you coming soon?"
El Prez-"Yea, I will be dropping an EP called Good Morning America F/W 08' after the election this year, cause it will be a new day, good or bad, after that. Other than that, I'm on some Dropout sh*t wit my brotha from another motha Dnez, if you dont know bout it google, cause we staying L7 free in the 08' and beyond."
